Derby Festival is serious business.

Last weekend I went to Kentucky as they kicked off the beginning of Derby Festival. There was an air show, fireworks, lots of AC/DC, Top Gun soundtrack and drunk, shirtless people all on the river bank. It was a fun time. I took 476 pictures that day and I still have to go through all of them, but here are some that I’ve uploaded already.

Dk – Thanks! After a while, they all start to look the same to me so I gave up on it for a bit. I’ll resume uploading soonish.

Thanks, by the way! And no, I won’t be going to Derby. Part of me wishes I would be, but the other part that burned from being in the sun with SPF 50 is relieved.

Great photos! My friend is a news producer in Louisville and she made Thunder Over Louisville out to be a nightmare, so I haven’t gone. Looks like fun … if I can get someone else to drive!

It actually wasn’t a bad time at all. We went early and just sat by the river bank the whole time. If you end up going next year and you go early & plan on staying all day like we did, I suggest bringing cards or something to keep yourself occupied for the moments of boredom.
